Get the scoop on the easiest, cleanest, and most ergonomically correct way to carry firewood from the wood pile to your house. A product review of the Apron Tote, which you can pick up from Lee Valley Tools.
I’ve been using this handy ‘gadget’ since early 2010 and wouldn’t be without it. It allows me to carry a lot more fire wood than I could otherwise, leaves a hand free for opening doors and stuff, protects my clothes so I don’t end up with sticky pitch on my favorite jacket, and keeps all the detritus from falling on the floor in the cabin on the way to the wood box.
Here’s a quick video review:

I bought this apron before we moved out to NB, knowing that we’d be heating with wood, and there are a lot of stairs to navigate.
We had two cords of wood delivered today, and this apron has been put through the ringer! Amazing.
What I like is that it uses where I am strongest – my shoulders, back and core. And not my stupid skinny arms. So I can haul a great amount.
Love this product. And Lee Valley Tools. 🙂

Our stove (an ideal steel hybrid) is on the ground floor, and I’ve a carport converted into a wood shed just off the deck. At our old house I had put wood in big plastic tubs to carry in, which was great, but here we have a dolly that has steel uprights welded on to make a ‘cage’for the wood. I can bring in a face cord in four trips, all with one arm (thank you, driver who was texting). The dolly is AMAZING.
Sounds like a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing.
